Harcourts Cooper & Co Run Orewa
Te Ara Tahuna Estuary Walkway
Welcome to Harcourts Cooper & Co Run Orewa! The teams from Running Events and Harcourts Cooper & Co are thrilled to welcome you to the beachside jewel at the top end of the North Shore's world class coastline. Our race venue is stunning Western Reserve, right on the banks of Orewa estuary and right across the road from one of Auckland’s longest beaches. Western Reserve falls directly onto the famous Te Ara Tahuna estuary walkway and this forms the bulk of all race courses.
Event distances go from the "main event" 10K Classic - which takes in one full lap of the Te Ara Tahuna walkway - the more achievable 5k Fun Run & Walk - which snakes through quiet and leafy suburban cul-de-sacs - right up to the 15k event - which combines the 10k and 5k courses. For our junior athletes, the 2k Kids Dash is a straight out blast along the estuary footpath and back to the finish line.
We take our finisher medals seriously
The team at Running Events take the task of creating the best finisher medals in New Zealand very seriously. We want every single person who crosses the finish line and smashes their fitness goals to take home a beautiful moment of a great day out and an awesome goal acheived.
Stay tuned for this year's medal design!
Event Venue & Course
Our event base for Harcourts Cooper & Co Run Orewa is stunning Western Reserve in Orewa. Access is super-easy and the finish line will be visible as you drive into Orewa from the city on Twin Coast Highway. Parking couldn't be easier with (weather permitting) parking at the race site with huge overflow car parks at the skateboard park and the surf club.
The course takes in the enture Te Ara Tahuna Walkway - a 7.5km concrete utility path which snakes its way right around the estuary, taking in Orewa in the north and Millwater and Red Beach suburbs in the south. The walkway is a magnet for weekend fitness heroes and you’ll find plenty of support as you go around … but look out for bikes!

From 2k to 15k, There's a Race Option For Everyone
The 15km Run is the ultimate challenge at Run Orewa. 15k'ers will follow the 10k course first and then proceed on to the 5k course ... read more about those two routes below. Participants in the 15k will encounter their "Decision Point" at approximately 9.8km - on the Te Ara footpath as it passes through Western Reserver. 10k athlete will turn right off the footpath and proceed up the finish chute to the finish line. Those in the 15k must stay on the footpath and continue on to begin the 5k course. Onya!
The superb 10k Classic course takes in the full fruit of the famous Te Ara Tahuna estuary walkway. The initial westward section hugs the estuary with uninterrupted views of the Orewa River. After crossing the bridge to the new subdivision at Arran Point, a short out-and-back ensures the accurary of the course. Next stop is Millwater and Metro Park with an extended loop on Millwater Parkway. The rest of the course is on estuary reserve until crossing the old SH1 bridge, passing the skateboard park and approaching the finish line. Remember to bear right off the footpath at 9.8km to head for the finish line (otherwise you'll be running an extra 5k!).
Our 5km fun run & walk course is truly a unique experience! The intiial section mirrors the 10k course along the beautiful estuary esplanade before turning right into the leafy Orewa suburbs. The course includes two "race track" sections around the uniquely shaped Settlers Grove and Nickell Place cul-de-sacs. Back out onto the main road we go past Orewa College to Centreway Reserve where a tree-lined footpath takes you all the way back to the Western Reserve and the finish line!
Feel the thunder! The kids course is an easy, flat and traffic free out-and-back course along the banks of the estuary. The kids get to start under the same arch and follow the same westward outbound course as the adults. Just before the 1km mark the kids hit their turnaround and head back towards Western Reserve and the finish line ... remember to KEEP RIGHT on this course kids! And what do you get when you make it back to that finish line? That's right ... you're awesome finisher medal!
