2K KIDS' DASH
Feel the thunder! The kids course is an easy, flat and traffic free out-and-back course along the wide concrete footpaths of Metro Park. The kids get to start under the same arch and follow the same eastward course as the adults. Just before the 1km mark the kids hit their turnaround and head back towards the finish line.
Kids ... remember to KEEP LEFT at all times on this course! And what do you get when you make it back to that finish line? That's right ... you're awesome finisher medal!
Parents - remember that you are most welcome to accompany your child on the course - but please start at the back of the field and take care not to impede the faster kids who are racing for placing :)

The Course
The 2k kids dash course at Run Orewa is a straight out / straight back blast on the wide concrete footpaths of Metro Park. Starting under the big arch, kids will race around to the far side of the Hockey Field, turning around at approx 800 metres.
They then restrace their steps all the way back under the Start arch before turning left onto the playing fields and following the flags and fences up the chute and over the finish line. Awesome! This course is flat and fast and there are no road crossings.
Important! Participants should keep left on the footpath to allow kids coming in the other direction to pass. This will happen much sooner than you think!

| Number Collection | NSRS Series Pass entrants registered more than four weeks out from the event will receive all five race numbers by courier one week prior to the first event. All other entrants must collect their race number at the Event Venue from 2-4pm on Saturday (the day before the event) or from 6:30am on race morning. |

| Access & Parking | Metro Park is easy to find and the nearest cross st to the event venue is Millwater Parkway at Vivian Rd. Metro Park has a large public car park adjacent to the venue and - if full - plentiful street parking on Millwater Parkway and nearby streets. | Refuelling Station | All race finishers will receive a can of SUPA sport drink and a banana when they cross the line. Water will be available from the Refuelling station outside of the finish chute. |
| Toilets | A large number of dedicated event portaloos will be located near the Start Line and next to the public toilet opposite Vivian Rd. |

| Directions | Look out for our directional arrows at all turns and intersections. These will either be a white arrow on a blue circle or - for more detailed instructions - a yellow sandwich board setup on the road. Marshals are also present at all changes of direction. |
| Pedestrians & Dogs | Please be respectful of the public for those few cases where you are sharing a footpath. Friendly, well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome at the event venue however participants must not be accompanied by pets. |
| Toilets | Public toilets are available on course in Metro Park opposite Vivian Rd (approx 1.5km). |

| Scoring | In the spirit of athletic competition, awards will be given based on positions across the finish line (a.k.a. "gun time"). However, online results will show - and be ranked upon - the actual time taken between start and finish line (a.k.a. "net time"). |

Safety |

| On Course | You must always remain fully aware of your surroundings and look out for uneven surfaces, obstacles or vehicles. Even where the road is closed, we cannot guarantee it will be traffic-free. Only proceed where you are satisfied it is safe to do so. |
| Medics | Medical services will be provide by First Aid NZ. In the case of an emergency, marshals or race crew will contact the on-site medical team in the first instance and - should there be any delay - dial 111. Important! In certain circumstances, on-site medicals may be able to respond to an emergency faster than 111. |
| Marshals | Please obey the marshals where they are acting for your safety. Marshals can make emergency calls on your behalf or contact event medical staff. |
