5K RUN & WALK
For the newbie runner, those looking for a slightly less punishing Sunday morning run ... or the speed demons ... the 5k course at Run Orewa is flat, fast and awesome. Get amongst it!
Runners in the 5k will start at 8:15am - with Competitive Walkers setting off 3 minutes later. This should be just enough time to allow all of our 10k and 15k participants to clear the course before the 5k turn off at the pedestrian bridge at Kingsway School. Faster runners definitely need to stay switched on through this section as you will be running against the path of slower 5kers for a short section.
See below for a description and map of the course.

The Course
The 5k course at Run Orewa remains on the Millwater side of the estuary with a figure of 8 loop around the Metro Park area. The first half of the course follows the same route at the 10k, before crossing the pedestrian bridge at Kingsway School.
Keep your wits about you for the next 100 metres as you may now cross the path of slower 5k runners still heading outward from Metro Park. Bear left at the Hockey Field - grab a quick drink at the aid station and then head up onto the wide Millwater Parkway footpath to the turnaround at Emily's Reserve. From here, you'll join up with the 10k runners to head back to the finish.
This course is flat and fast.
